He married 9 October 1909 in El Campo, Wharton County, to MABEL HUNT ADAMS, daughter of John Thomas Adams and Ida Traylor Hunt, born 8 March 1891 in Halletsvelle, Lavaca County, Texas and died January or Februaru 1972 in Pheonix, Maricopa County, Arizona.

MARY KATHLEEN BOWEN, born 16 September 1912 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas and died 31 May 1976 in Houston, Harris County, Texas. She married 9 November 1935 in Victoria, Victoria County, Texas to Cecil Wann Kelly.

Adam and Mabel divorced in San Antonio in 1924. She filed the papers stating abuse, and Adam , Kathleen and James(Jim) moved briefly to Shreveport, Louisiana where he worked as a postmaster. Previously in San Antonio he is listed in the City Directories as a chauffer. Truth is that Mabel had meet another man, Jack Meadors, and once the divorce was final she and Jack married and moved to Arizona, where
Jack worked in the copper mines. They took Mabel's oldest daughter, Gloria, with them and they had 2 children of their own - Joseph and Jaqueline (Jackie). Adam never remarried and raised Kathleen and Jim by himself.
